Tomorrow's World Today

This Summer, you'll find Gareth hosting the latest series of Tomorrow's World. This new incarnation of BBC1's flagship science show takes him on a series of roadshows around Britain.

Expect the usual mix of new discoveries and intriguing inventions, except, of course, Gareth will add his own flavour. On the programme menu, for instance, are such titbits as scorpions and custard.

The scorpions are due to feature in the Glasgow show, in which Ready Steady Cook chef Anthony Worrel Thompson whips up a smorgasbord of unappealing insects for the presenter to taste.

As for custard, well that's also served up in a slightly different way — under foot. Instead of eating it, Gareth will be running on it. In an arena in Cardiff. All in the name of science, you understand.

The presenter himself is thrilled to be fronting these new Tomorrow's World Roadshows, as it fulfils a childhood ambition.

"Tomorrow's World was my favourite shows as a kid. Growing up,  my heroes on TV were James Burke, William Woolard and Raymond Baxter... all Tomorrow's World Presenters, and now I'm one!" beamed the very happy Welshman today.

The series will be shot at a live touring event "BBC Tomorrow's World Roadshow".  It aims to provide visitors to the exhibition the opportunity to try some "hands on" science for themselves.

The first Tomorrow's World Roadshow will be broadcast at 7:30pm on Wednesday June 25th 2003 on network BBC1.
