‘Little Britain’ Celebrates An Important Date

Over the years Gareth’s TV shows have cast him in 100s of roles spanning every century since the early stone age, and – when you get to the 20th Century – roles from every decade. However, there is one role that he’s never had the chance to play - that of his own father.

This time, it wasn’t for the cameras, but for a friend. When ‘Little Britain’ writer/performer Matt Lucas decided to have a fancy dress party for his 30th Birthday, the theme was – quite rightly – Britain, and Gareth got the chance he’d been waiting for to get hold of an authentic WW2 RAF uniform exactly as his father wore 60 years ago, and – alongside partner Violet Berlin in genuine WRAF garb – stage their very own Little Battle Of Little Britain.

Later in the evening, more military types joined the war effort, including Sporty Spice, Mel C who appeared to have joined the Navy for the evening (see WREN picture above) and yet more RAF officers, including writer/comedian Richard Herring.
