Midnight, and my boyfriend’s still awake
This is a torment he can’t escape
He’s been lying there since before dark
Worrying about who’s going to win in Albert Park
It’s like this every year
3 hours of sleep
And 16 pints of beer
I can’t see the reason
Why he is so excited at the start of the season.
He went to bed at half past eight
Said, “I should have done this 2 hours ago, I’m late”.
I’ve done everything I can
But he’s afraid of sleeping through the alarm.
He wakes up at 4 am
Then at 4:22 he gets up again
Sets himself up in front of the TV
And is usually sound asleep again
By lap 23.
He says it’s important
To see how the season will play out
But my guess is that that Schumacher
Will win again somehow
No doubt.
At least his only problem is getting up
A far better problem to have
Than standing with 200 football fans
All throwing beer around In a pub.
In a pub.
There are worst things than midnight when it comes around.
